Glenburn Lodge protects the natural wetland in the Cradle of Humankind on World Wetlands Day

Glenburn Lodge staff recently aided in the protection of the natural wetlands on the Glenburn Lodge property in the Cradle of Humankind, by spending a day cleaning up the wetlands.

“ The day was focused on the sustainable development and the protection and enhancement of our current natural assets”, says Nigel Peel, Glenburn Lodge General Manager.

Staff helped with the removal of a number of alien plants, such as Bug weed and Syringa saplings, and also made the wetlands accessible to guests for bird viewing and enjoyment of the scenic views.

“The balance between development and conservation remains a key factor for a greener future  and the  protection of our wetlands is an important environmental issue. Wetlands reduce the amount of waste and toxins in natural freshwater supplies and it is also habitat to a beautiful array of birdlife,” adds David M Kuvawoga, Glenburn Country Estate Manager.

Glenburn Lodge forms part of the Guvon Hotels & Spas group and is a gold member of the Heritage Environmental Rating Program and a member of the Endangered Wildlife Trust and Birdlife South Africa.  Glenburn Lodge also adheres to sensible eco-friendly practices including the upholding of sustainable environmental policies.
